Teddy's 1st picture in Munich

On December 3rd, 2005 I once again got on a United Airlines plane (UA906) and arrived in Munich, Germany on December 4th, 2005

The first picture above was taken in front of the impressive building which looks like a church or a museum - this is Munich's oldest indoor swimming pool, the Müllersche Volksbad.

It bears the name of its donator Karl von Müller, a prosperous engineer, who donated his houses to the city of Munich in 1894 so that its people would finally have a large bathing house. At the time small dogs, which the people of Munich call Zamperl, were also allowed into the baths. There was even a separate dog pool with drying boxes. – I wonder if they had a bear pool –

Next I took a walk to the historic “Marienplatz” (town square).

Marienplatz has been the heart of the city of Munich since the city’s foundation in 1158! In the Middle Ages, the square used to be a market place as well as the place where tournaments and festivities took place. The market has been moved during the 19th century, but it still functions as the central place in Munich. If you click on this link you can see a live webcam of the town square. http://www.marienplatz-muenchen.de/

When I got to the square I was in awe of the huge Christmas tree! The town square is host to the Munich Christmas Market (“Weihnachtsmarkt”)

The air was filled with the smell of roasted almonds and chestnuts! –Yummy-

I was going to buy some souvenirs at one of the many Christmas Market booths, but I had forgotten to exchange some of my American $$$. In Germany the official currency is call “Euro”.

Near the town square is the “Altes Rathaus” (Old Town Hall) which houses a delightful toy museum. The museum was hosting a special “100 Year Teddy Bear Celebration”!

At the museum I met a nice German family. Their little boy’s name was “Kian”.

Munich’s mascot is a lion.

Germany will be hosting the “2006 Soccer World Cup”.

That’s why this lion is wearing a soccer outfit!

After meeting the lion I went to take a nap at the Hilton hotel. They have very comfortable beds. www.munich-city.hilton.com

After a short nap I went to see a rock-concert. The band (“The Royal We”) was from Germany. Lucky for me they sang in English! It’s great that people speak a little bit of English wherever I travel! The band even invited my on

stage!!

After that exciting experience I slept like a bear! J

And then guess whom I met the next day at the airport!?

Santa and Teddy

Traveling is fun! I can’t wait to see more of the United States and the Rest of the World!
